Neymar nears Chelsea switch, and Robinho gives thumbs up to the move

The 19-year-old is one of the most exciting talents in world football, and AC Milan, as well as Real Madrid have been strongly attributed with an interest in his signature, but it’s the Blues who look like they’ve finally won the race. 

Wagner Ribeiro, the Brazilian’s agent, is believed to have scheduled a meeting with owner Roman Abramovich to thrash out a £28million deal, and if all goes to plan, Neymar could be forming a new look partnership with Fernando Torres at Stamford Bridge next season. 

His compatriot Robinho has also encouraged the Samba star to make the move, but insisted he must be used in his natural position, and not asked to fulfill defensive duties like he was. 

‘I think Ganso and Neymar are ready for Europe,’ said the former Manchester City striker. 

‘Of course it’s not always easy to adapt. There are those who do it quickly, and those who take longer, but these two have quality to give. 

‘Often problems occur when players like Ganso and Neymar, who are used to playing certain positions in Brazil, are asked to cover others. 

‘If you let them play their normal roles they are two players who can make the difference. 

‘Adapting to the English league was not easy for me. 

'You come up against a lot of physical strength and they play a lot of long ball, but in the end football is football, whether you play in England or Brazil.’
