Florent Malouda's two-goal success in the big win at Portsmouth took him into double figures for a season for the first time in his Chelsea career.
With nine of his 11 strikes coming in Barclays Premier League games, he is just one short of the 10 league goal totals he recorded twice in France, once for Guingamp and once for Lyon, and the way he was timing his shots at Fratton Park as he netted the second and third goals, it will be a surprise if he doesn't surpass that personal best in the remaining seven games.
'Scoring that many goals is good, especially in a season when we can still win the Double,' Malouda tells the Official Chelsea website.
'I won't say it is my main objective, my main objective is to become a leader in this team, but it helps because I can show everybody that I can score in this team and also I can be important as an attacking midfielder or a defensive midfielder. I can play in any position but of course people notice the goals and the assists.
'The spirit we need for the rest of the season is that everybody has to sometimes sacrifice a little bit, but of course it is always a good feeling to score.’
Malouda makes it 2-0
