BackThe 19-year-old Spanish midfielder is looking forward to featuring for the Blues and is expecting to occupy a similar role to that of injured Ghanaian Michael Essien
Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu has conceded that parting company with Barcelona was not a difficult decision to make.
The 19-year-old defensive midfielder signed for Chelsea last month with hopes of finding regular first-team action after making just one senior appearance for Barca.
Despite having left one of the most successful clubs in recent years, Romeu noted he is not having second thoughts about the move.
"It was not hard to leave Barca," he told Ona FM. "I am eager to face this new opportunity.
"When this offer came in, I thought about it a little, but then I had no doubts about accepting it.
"I did not talk to [Pep] Guardiola about my future and Barcelona accepted the offer with no problem."
Romeu, who played for Spain at the Under-20 World Cup, stated he had been on Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas' wishlist for some time and revealed what the Portuguese coach expects from him.
"I have learned that Villas-Boas was interested in me when he was still at Porto," he said.
"He wanted a new player because of [Michael] Essien's injury, someone who can play in that position and I guess he expects me to improve with time."
