Fabio Capello quits as England manager after meeting with FA
Publish piece of newsFabio Capello quits as England manager after meeting with FA PIECE OF NEWS
BackCapello quit after a meeting with FA chairman David Bernstein and general secretary Alex Horne at Wembley.
An FA statement read: "The Football Association can confirm that Fabio Capello has today resigned as England manager. The discussions focused on the FA Board's decision to remove the England team captaincy from John Terry, and Fabio Capello's response through an Italian broadcast interview. Fabio's resignation was accepted and he will leave the post of England manager with immediate effect."
Harry Redknapp (Tottenham manager) is believed to replace Capello now that he's free from the trial for tax evasion charges.
Former England striker Luther Blissett on BBC Radio 5 live: "It started when the FA decided to strip John Terry of the captaincy then Fabio said his little piece. It's a massive surprise to me he actually left. It's never a good thing. But it's what you make of it from here on in. We are so negative at times about the England team - we've got to be a bit more positive. If it's Harry Redknapp, we have to give him all the support we can.
An ideal situation is that Harry could almost do it by remote control and Stuart Pearce could be the one to carry it out. Harry's strength is recognising the players that, when you blend them together make a team. He's got a good vision of what he wants and the players that can fit into it to make it work."
We'll see...
