DIDIER DROGBA COULD SWING LUKA MODRIC DEAL

BackSPURS are running out of time to keep Croatian playmaker Luka Modric – who is a big Chelsea target.
Despite boss Harry Redknapp and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy insisting Modric is not for sale, a deal could yet still go through with Tottenham asking for striker Didier Drogba in return, plus £10million.
Chelsea upped their original £22m offer to £27m and then Modric slapped in a transfer request to Levy last Wednesday night in a bid to force his move. He is currently away in South Africa on Tottenham’s pre-season tour – but he is adamant he wants to leave to win trophies.
And the lack of marquee signings this summer so far has given his argument for moving on some added clout.
Spurs have only signed veteran keeper Brad Friedel on a free from Aston Villa and there does not seem to be much transfer action in the pipeline.
Redknapp admits he desperately needs players but has to cull his hefty squad first before he can buy.
The official line from Spurs is that Modric will not be allowed to leave.
Last week Redknapp said a transfer request from Modric would make “no difference” to the club’s stance and neither would an improved bid of over £30m.
And while Levy’s stance is to be admired money usually talks and a swop deal plus cash for Drogba could satisfy all parties.
With Redknapp wanting extra firepower, a deal involving Drogba might swing it.

ismailacole oh Redknapp let the player follow his dream, he wants to win trophies and for a swap for Drogba i don't think that's a very good idea. Mr manager i also don't agree with you because Drogba doesn't need to fight for a place he already got one............

manager @Daniel i really do not agree with you that Anelka should be the one to live Stamford bridge, If Didier leaves , We have Fernando Torres who would partner well with Modric and Anelka has made it clear that every body will have to fight for a place in the first team.Drogba is afraid of competition and that to me should be his avenue to move on. He (Roman) Has invested too much on Torres and want to see what he is made of. Torres will hit this season. I prefer Anelka to Drogba, simply because he has no mood swing
