Chelsea are set to continue their recent lavish spending with an audacious bid to sign Real Madrid playmaker Kaka
The Brazilian will not come cheaply however; the Spanish club will want to recuperate much of what they paid to AC Milan in June 2009. The 28 year old has struggled for form and fitness since moving to the Spanish capital, returning to the side in January after an 8 month absence. The impressive form of Mesut Özil has also limited Kaka’s opportunities this season.
The Brazilian could be tempted to a move to London if Carlo Ancelotti can persuade Roman Abramovich to provide the funds. Kaka could cost anything up to £50 million which could prove a stumbling block given Abramovich’s recent gifts of Fernando Torres and David Luiz costing a combined £70M.
There is no doubt Ancelotti is a firm admirer of the attacking midfielder from his Milan days where the two were together reaching two Champions League finals against Liverpool. He is believed to see Kaka as an ideal supplier for the likes of Torres and Drogba. We will have to wait till the summer to see whether anything can be done and whether Abramovich wants to continue his big spending.Real will be tempted to cash in given they already have a younger player in his position, but will not be doing it cheaply. Many will remember Michael Owen going to Newcastle for £18.5 million and Chelsea will not want to be made fools of also.
