BackThe pocket of supporters who were heard to sing about Anton Ferdinand during the Blues' away fixture in Genk could face lifetime bans from Stamford Bridge after an investigation
Chelsea have confirmed that they are seeking to take “the strongest possible action” against any fans found to have been involved in abusive chanting, with lifetime bans likely.
A significant number of supporters were heard repeating “Anton Ferdinand, you know what you are” during the Blues’ 1-1 draw away in Genk in the Champions League, which is understood to refer to the racism row surrounding the QPR defender and John Terry.

“Chelsea FC is committed to stamping out all forms of discrimination and if we are provided with sufficient evidence that season ticket holders or members have been involved in such activity, we will take the strongest possible action, including supporting criminal prosecution,” read a club statement, released on Wednesday.
“A number of people have been banned from Stamford Bridge and prosecuted for racist behaviour in the past and we won’t hesitate to act in this way again.
“The club has a zero-tolerance policy towards such abhorrent behaviour — as we are sure do the vast majority of our fans — and we are proud of our record in tackling racism.”
The Blues are co-operating with Genk and the Metropolitan Police to analyse security footage and ticketing information to determine which fans were involved with the chanting.
According to The Times, they will pass details on to the police if they decide to prosecute.
The FA are still investigating the original incident, in which Chelsea captain Terry is alleged to have racially abused Ferdinand during a Premier League match.
