Chelsea stopper Petr Cech insists £50million Fernando Torres will not flop like former striker Andriy Shevchenko.

The Ukraine international arrived from AC Milan for a then Chelsea record of £30.8million, however the striker struggled to live up to his inflated price tag and was eventually sold after scoring just nine league goals for the Blues.

But the Chelsea No1 doesn’t believe Torres will suffer the same fate as Shevchenko. The Czech shot-stopper added:

“The time will come for Fernando.

“There are no similarities with Shevchenko. Torres will score goals and will be fine.

“With Andriy, it did not work from the start. But you can see with Fernando that he is working, improving all the time.

“We need to improve as a team to play with him. It’s just a matter of time.”

Feyi It is just a matter of time as Cech has said but without team work, Torres will find it tough in picking up the pieces. I pray the others help for him to pick again.

manager he cech is right Elnino will be back to fitness and score more goals for the blues. With Benayoun and a potential signing Luka Modric he will leave a mark at stamford bridge. I have no doubt whatsoever
